There are many spots in Bohol where you could see a tarsier. We went to the spot where the Loboc River was. According to the caretaker, there are 14 tarsiers in their vicinity but there are a lot in the sanctuary at the top of the mountain.
When I saw them, they are really cute and so adoring because they are harmless and they will just stare at you.
I think there are laws that you can't touch the tarsier but the caretaker was the one initiating it and their target are the foreigners which will be cornered and in the end, they will ask for some "donations" that you will put in the basket separated from the donation boxes located within the vicinity. The caretaker even took one of the tarsier and placed it inside his pocket.
You could also feed the tarsier with cricket and the payment is through donation again.
I was saddened when I saw what had happened. I was wishing if only some of the locals like this could really take care of the tarsiers because they are part of their tourism industry.
According to our tour guide, there are some proposals that the tarsiers should be taken care of by the sanctuary only so that they will be protected and could be supported by the Philippine Tarsier Foundation. I wish the local government would do something about this. c",)
