When I told Karlo that there is a new restaurant beside Sbarro in Glorietta 5, which is the Sizzling Pepper Steak. He asked me if it is the same with Pepper Lunch but I told him that it has the same concept but they are totally different. I'll will tell you why later.
After work, we agreed to have dinner to this place. I already warned him that there will be a queue because the last time I ate in Sbarro, the queue was terrible. But maybe it was just a temporary one because it was indeed a new restaurant in Glorietta and people are just curious of what this new restaurant can offer.
When we arrived there, we thought there is no queue because we entered the back door which was located inside the mall but we were asked if we could wait since there are no seats available. While waiting, we decided to order ahead.
I ordered corn soup and Beef Pepper Rice, which was a best seller according to the one who assisted us. Karlo ordered Chicken Pepper Steak plus an additional rice and soup. The server said that she would only punch our orders if we already had our seats. Lucky for us that after 5 minutes, we already had our seats.
The place is not very spacious at all because you could unintentionally bump other tables if you are going to pass by so be careful. That is why there's always a queue during dinner time because of the limited space.
There was a LCD TV in one wall and there were two sets of seats which have exhaust pipes. The LCD TV shows you on how to prepare your sizzling rice before eating it.
The Beef Pepper Rice was served in a round sizzling plate guarded with a paper encircling the plate to avoid burns from the sizzling effect. The rice is in the middle topped with leeks and corn. The beef was surrounding the rice, which was half cooked because you have to cook the other half while your plate is still sizzling hot. You will also add the sauce provided while cooking.
The Chicken Pepper Steak was served without rice but with some carrots, string beans and mung bean sprouts.
Then after the DIY cooking, their instructions was to mix your rice with the viand. Then wala dinner is ready.
The beef was good but the chicken tasted better because it was juicy and tender enough. If you like spices like pepper, you will definitely love the flavor and the aroma too.
For desserts we had Strawberry Cheesecake and Tiramisu.
The Strawberry Cheesecake lacks some strawberries but the cream cheese dominated this dessert.
The Tiramisu was in a 4x3x4 dimensions and it was really big in serving. It was bit frozen and covered with cocoa.
The difference between Sizzling Pepper Steak and Pepper Lunch I think is that the latter is more expensive even though I haven't tried it yet and I've read in some blogs and from its website that it was indeed more spacious, have good interiors and have limited menu selections. I'm looking forward to try it though. c",)
