Tuyom a.k.a Sea Urchin

Warning: The following images maybe disturbing to others, viewer discretion is advised.

Sea urchins are widely found throughout the island of Cebu and its surrounding islands. It is locally known as "tuyom" in Cebuano or Bisayan language. You could found them near the shore or at the deepest side of the ocean. Their sting is very painful, trust me. I've been a victim of these creatures.

It is considered as an aphrodisiac to locals and to many. Dishes made from sea urchins are widely seen at Korean and other Asian-themed restaurants. The spines are removed for better preparation then you could use your fingers or a knife to crack the top shell and remove the teeth-like structure and the sand-like organs. Gently remove those things leaving the yellow star-shaped part of the sea urchin. The yellow part is the edible one. It tasted like a crab but only softer and its structure is like an ox tail. c",)
