Long live your legacy Mrs. President!

Corazon "Cory" Aquino
1933 - 2009

It is a very sad day today for the Filipino people because a great influential leader had just left us with the hope of the Philippines that someday it will be a much better place for us.

The former President Corazon "Cory" Aquino had just died at exactly 3:18AM at the Makati Medical Center due to cardiopulmonary arrest while praying the Holy Rosary together with her 5 children, relatives and friends.

She was diagnosed with colon cancer last March 2008 but the family failed to report that her cancer was already in stage 4. Right after it was diagnosed, she under went chemotherapy for a couple of times and reported that she was responding well to the treatment.

Last June this year, she was reportedly confined at the Makati Medical Center due to loss of appetite and stayed there for one month.

She died at the age of 76.

Her remains will be open for public viewing at the De La Salle - Greenhills (Gate 5) starting at 5PM today (August 1, 2009) until Monday, August 3, 2009 . It will be close for public viewing between 4AM to 7AM everyday. She will be transferred to Manila Cathedral on
Monday, August 3, 2009. Necrological services will be done at the Manila Cathedral on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. She will be buried at the Manila Memorial Park together with Ninoy.

She was the first female president of the Philippines and Asia. First known only as the wife of the late opposition leader Benigno S. Aquino, Jr. of the Marcos administration. Later, she became a prominent leader of change, freedom and democracy after her husband was assassinated on August 21, 1983 at the Manila International Airport. Her way of change towards democracy without vio
lence and only armed with rosary and prayers made her way to be known as a great leader throughout the whole world.

Even though not all of us never had an opportunity to meet her in person. At least we had the chance to know her contribution to our country and that she made history that the other countries in the world followed what she have done.
