Lago De Oro, Calatagan, Batangas

Lago de Oro in Calatagan, Batangas was the first cable water park in the Philippines before CWC in Cam Sur. Before it was also the primary park for ordinary people and celebrities who are into water sports such as knee boarding and skiing.

It was a man-made lake with a dual purpose, one is for pleasure and the other is for oyster farming. The lake was also used to propagate and harvest oysters. There are even warning signs that when you let go of the rope, you have to raise your feet to prevent disturbing the oysters that might snap your toes.

The water is salty because of the oysters and the location of the Lago de Oro was near the ocean, even though it is only a man-made lake.

You have to go to the reception hall of the park, which is near the hotel and the restaurant, to register and pay for the ride.

For a beginner, it would cost you around Php 600++. PhP 500 for the ride, inclusive of the gear and board/ski rent. The PhP 100 is for the baller ID deposit that they would let you wear so that the operators would know that you are already a paid rider.

If you are a beginner either in knee boarding or skiing, you have to read the do's and don'ts
and the safety instructions.

There are friendly staffs who would do a demonstration on what is the proper positioning so that you would have a steady and smooth sailing ahead.

After the demonstration, you may line up according to your preference. There are 2 platforms available, one for knee boarding (left) and the other is for skiing (right) but the skiers may use the knee boarding platform for an easier grab and pull of the rope.

Before doing the real thing, you might think that doing it is easy to be pulled by the rope but you should place your force or gravity at the center of your body so that you could be pulled steadily and balance your way tot the surface of the water.

The hardest part of the ride is the pull on each turn because of the brisk force of the cable. You have to balance the cable force against the resistance of your arm muscles to maintain the ride.

If you fall anywhere within the lake, there are yellow ladders that you could climbed at. A tram is also available for free if you fell far from he queue and waiting area.

Cottages are also available beside the lake, I don't have any idea if it is for free, but I guess it is. At the hotel, sauna and swimming pool is also available for those who wants to relax and chill. I also tried to jump at a trampoline.

It was an experience not just for fun to try but yet fulfilling... c",)
