Fig Newtons

I used to eat this Fig Newtons back when I was a kid. It was a snack that could be found in my grandparent's house. Usually it was sent to them by my relatives who lives in the USA. But after my grandfather died, I didn't saw this anymore. It was not available locally in the Philippines but it is known worldwide.

Fig is a shrub and its fruit is the only edible part. They grow in Mediterranean countries and countries with the similar climate. According to Wikipedia, Figs are one of the highest plant sources of calcium and fiber. They also have a laxative effect and contain many antioxidants so they are good for the body.

There are other two flavors available, which is strawberry and raspberry. I wish it would be available here in the Philippines. By the way it is a product of Nabisco. c",)
