16th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

It's my second time in a row to visit the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Clark but this time I was attending the night glow instead of the last year's early hot air fly. Me and my friends were supposed to be leaving at 3am in Manila. However, we didn't woke up at 2:30am and just woke up with my friend screaming that it was 6am already!

After attending to our own errands, we left Manila around 7:30am and reached Clark by 10am. My other friend texted me that the balloon was already gone and that they were already leaving Clark.

The parking was ample for everyone but it doesn't come for free. It was worth PhP 50 for a flat rate and it is guarded by marshals per row. The entrance ticket was still at PhP 150. The walkway going to the area was now free of vendors and all of the concessionaires were placed at the grass area. The food shops are places a little farther to the grass but now they are a lot compared to last year's event.

Caltex was still one of their sponsors which still occupies one of the hangar. The place was now very spacious for people to walk and fly a kite because the back hangar was now opened for sponsoring flying schools.

This is one of the concessionaire who sells wood-products and see its buy one, take one!

Hot air balloons Japanese lanterns are for sale for PhP 200. They also sell kites (PhP 100, bubble guns (PhP 150) and pinwheels (PhP 200).

It was such a windy yet cloudy day so you could have a mini picnic at the dry grass without worrying the heat of the sun. There's a playground placed here which was not visible from last year's event. The huge bucket of San Miguel Light was vanished but a huge bottle of Cossack Vodka was at the walkway.

From last year, the Yellow Cab car was present but now it has an additional transportation to show, the bicycle and the scooter. The dysfunctional tanks from the military were gone.

Flags from the different participating countries are displayed. This place was the DJ's booth from last year's event. The buffet tent was moved closer to the field.

Some of the fighter and passenger jets are displayed at the tarmac.

See the four hangar at the back, which is now accessible to the public and where the sponsor schools are located making the 2 hangar in front more spacious. This plane was a model project of PATTS, you could take pictures from it but if you want your picture to be taken here, there's a minimal fee of I think PhP 10.

Model plane with a fee if you want your pictures to be taken. You could also really ride these planes for PhP12,000.

Good thing to the model jeeps and planes were the uniformed guys from the military and navy. Some of the guys also wears uniforms during the Japanese occupation. Although this year, there are lesser artifacts displayed, equipments you could wear for picture taking and role playing.

Everyone is waiting for the night glow, good thing there are still other air shows like the ultralight planes and airplane exhibitions.

Since it was windy, kites are everywhere! While waiting for the night glow, we decided to have our lunch at the Marquee Mall since they provide free shuttle service going to and from the Hot Air Balloon Festival. We ate at Kenny Roger's.

This was the last flight of planes for the day. We are just in time to go back because the traffic is getting heavier for the night glow.

Then from afar 3 hot air balloons were tested if the night glow balloons could fly.

Para-gliders were already flying, which signals the start of the night glow. However, due to the strong winds, the balloons were having a hard time to be fully inflated. Para-gliders throw battery-operated flying toys to keep the people entertained.

Darth Vader balloon was the first to be inflated and the crowd goes wild.

The wind was still hitting the balloons hard making them long enough to be inflated but the people patiently waited.

The Barrel Man was having a hard time to stand on its own. It was even totally deflated because of the wind.

The barn was still present this year. The sun, turtle and the beer was gone.

Now, Mr Snowman was up.

The Barrel Man was inflated for the 2nd time and he made it! Unfortunately, no balloons were flying due to the strong winds and was just up for an hour or two just for the the people to see.

Festo, the upside-down hot air balloon and the normal one was the last balloon to be inflated, see the people were already gone before it was inflated totally.

Paper lanterns that were for sale was lit up by some visitors and flew it up in the air.

Products who uses lights are at their peak because they could fully showcase it beautifully. This ends our hot air balloon journey. The early morning session of the hot air balloon remains the best time to see them! Maybe next time they could include some fireworks show or competition since the field was really huge. c",)
