Bugis Street, once a nightly parade place for transwomen in the 1950s to 1980s, where tourist flocked in and out for food and booze. Now it was made into the largest street shopping location in Singapore. The shops were literally built on the street itself and little alleys are made for shoppers to walked on.
There are still food shops in the area and malls from side to side. But why would you buy at malls if you could ask a cheaper price from the street vendors. This was like the Greenhills version in the Philippines.
There are a lot of things being sold here but most specially clothes, specifically women's clothes and it is because of the buying power of women in the society. Singapore people are fashionable, what a Filipino person might wear during a gimmick night might be a common everyday clothing for a Singaporean. Shopping here is definitely worth a try and products are only available here from neighboring countries like India, Malaysia and Thailand.
The cost of living and products here are high compared to other Asian countries besides Hong Kong because of its population which are barely foreigners and fewer locals. I think Bangkok, Thailand has still the cheaper bargains to offer. c",)
