I often go to Mercato for late unplanned weekend stroll with my friends and its really evolving every now and then. Some of the stalls were still there from the time Mercato was launched and some already bidded goodbye to the night market goers. I miss the Baklava dessert that used to be sold here by the Turkish owner.
One of the new stalls here was the Panzarotti by mama Lou's, which offers a huge empanada like meal with different ingredients inside for Php 120, partnered with a choice of a dip.
It comes with four flavors the All Meat, which had pepperoni, Italian suasage, pomodoro and mozzarella. Bianca, which had bacon, alfredo, mozzarella, mushroom and corn. Magherita, which is only Php 100 compared to the other flavors had basil, pomodoro and mozzarella only.
And I got this Specialita, with pepperoni, Italian sausage, bell peppers, olives and anchovies. It also comes with 2 leaves of arugula and some alfalfa sprouts. A choice of dip includes pesto, blue cheese or marinara sauce. But better ask the server if which dips compliments with the panzarotti you ordered.
It tasted like a thick-crust pizza, the only difference was the toppings was placed inside. The dough was thick and the ingredients was just minute in size but its still delicious. c",)
