Gram's Diner

Me and my friends was supposed to watch the musical 'Mamma Mia' at CCP but we still don't have any tickets and unfortunately, the cheapest ticket was already sold-out and the only remaining tickets   are worth Php 3,000. Being that expensive, we all agreed to cancel watching the play but had a plan B right away, which is to watch a movie instead.

The venue was at the Power Plant Mall, just because of another reason, Happy Lemon! We bought our last full show tickets before having our dinner. The three of us were really starving and was undecided where to eat. One of us wants Sumo Sam and the other wants Pepper Lunch but I objected because I already tried eating there and want something we all haven't tried before. The solution was the mall directory and saw Gram's Diner. I already saw one of their branches at Molito, Alabang, so everyone agreed although both of them had hesitations at first.

Gram's Diner only had three branches as of the moment, one in Rockwell Center, one in Molito, Alabang and the other was at the ABS-CBN compound. The Rockwell branch is not located inside the  Power Plant Mall. It is located at the Manansala Drive within Rockwell Center just across the Power Plant Mall. It is where the happy drinkers go too.

Being a first timer here, we really don't have any idea on what to order so we asked one of the staff about their best sellers for a safer suggestion. My friend got this, Smothered Chicken (Php 275), which is a grilled chicken with mashed potatoes, brown sauce and topped with melted cheese strips although you have an option to change the hashed brown to rice or fries without any additional fee. All I can say is, this is really a heavy comfort food!

Another one got this, Eggs Benedict (Php 265), which had two poached eggs and ham over a pancake-like muffin poured over with Hollandaise sauce and fries. At first, we thought that the sauce was mustard because of its sourness. The fries were really distinct and tasty but I still prefer rice.

I was really torn between their Patriotic Breakfast (Php 225) and Smothered Chicken but since my friend already got the Smothered Chicken, I got the former because of its magic word 'garlic fried rice'. It is composed of US beef tapa, fried egg and the garlic fried rice. Too simple? Yes, but don't just judge the food by the way it looks but on how it would tickle your taste buds and satisfy your hunger. I even ordered another cup of garlic rice, its the garlic rice to die for plus the tapa was rough at first but was really gratifying!

We were supposed to try their milkshakes but as planned we want Happy Lemon instead but unfortunately, we didn't make it to their closing time. I would definitely comeback here and try more of their scrumptious dishes! c",)
