Earth Hour 2010

In the Philippines, the ranging heat is on because of the El Niño phenomenon. The summer season usually enters by the month of March but this year, it was earlier. According to the news, Manila may experience the 40 degree Celsius temperature. Water from the dams are drying, there's no rain too. Even the seeding of the clouds that is done by the government doesn't work anymore because there are no enough clouds to hold the salt to.

Rotating brownouts already started. Vegetables, poultry and cattle farms are being affected too. Seasons change so rapidly that we are caught unaware of what is coming soon. Even earthquakes strikes everywhere and anytime.

In 2009, Earth Hour inspired over 10 million Filipinos in 647 cities and municipalities to switch off, saving an estimated 611MWh of electricity – equivalent to shutting down a dozen coal-fired power-plants for an hour. Philippines also made its record of having the most people and cities who participated the said event.

This 2010 the Earth Hour fever is back and now it is targeting at least 15 million Filipinos to participate. Even the government supports the said project. This will save another numerous megawatts in our country. Let us switch off our lights on Saturday, March 27 between 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

Let us once again not just set a record but to help the planet we are living in. Act now, help us preserve our only living planet. c",)
